Techniques for san diego crown molding

“You can’t get 8 inch crown molding at Home Depot,” said Pasquale Sardina, General Contractor and owner of Sardina Construction in San Diego. ”And you only have one chance to cut it properly, or you waste a lot of material which can be expensive.”

So Sardina Construction uses a technique passed through the generations when all the master craftsmen had were hand tools and no electricity. I tried to pull it out of Pasquale, but all I got was something about “it’s like cutting baseboard upside down, which makes it a lot harder to mitre the corners.”

Pasquale Sardina’s crown molding technique means that Sardina Construction can produce the most beautiful finsh carpentry crown molding and trim at the most affordable prices.

Black Walnut Finish Trim on a Radius Stairway

This new La Jolla house has a lot of extra-high ceilings and radiused walls, creating a challenge to make all the mitre cuts perfect. Pasquale and his father Vince constructed the finish trim on his beautiful curved stairway, using custom-made jigs to laminate 1/4 inch pieces of black walnut to conform to the curved stairway on a curved wall. Side stringers were bent to the radius of the wall.

This is an example of a small deck off the bedroom, made of a composite material that will last probably longer than you in all kinds of weather – hot, cold or wet. It’s a great alternative to wood for decks, patios and many other types of outdoor structures. The view out into the canyon inspired this built- in meditation bench. OOOOOMMMMM

I learned a lot about the construction business from my father, Vince Sardina. He worked most of his life in the yacht-building field, where wood has to bend and fit around odd angles and withstand the elements.
