About Sardina Construction
The story of Sardina Construction wouldn’t be complete without a trip back through three generations of Italian craftsman, in the city of Palermo on the Italian island of Sicily. That’s where the grandfather of Pasquale Sardina, a master carpenter himself, passed down the techniques and values of the Italian woodworking trade to his son – Paquale’s father, Vince Sardina. He taught Vince how to make his own nails, saw his own lumber and to craft beautiful homes, furniture and other works of fine carpentry with no electricity, no power tools and everything by hand. These techniques would serve Vince well when he moved his family to San Diego, and became a master carpenter himself in the high end yacht and shipbuilding industy.
But this story is really about Pasquale Sardina, and how he learned from his father to take pride in even the smallest details, and to become self sufficient in all areas of the construction business. The knowledge and lessons passed down through the generations of the Sardina family stay with Pasquale Sardina to this day as General Contractor with Sardina Construction.
Now with over 25 years of experience, Pasquale Sardina spent his early days in the commercial industry as a union steel stud and drywall/lathe and plaster framer. Family business brought him out East to Maine, where he built log cabins and hunting lodges in rural areas with not much more than a gas-powereed generator in 15 degree below zero winter weather. He eventually brought his family back to settle in San Diego, where he worked in the custom shipbuilding trades with his father, sharpening his skills in everything from finish carpentry to building hulls, custom furniture, kitchen quarters and cabinetry, and fiberglass fabrication for 5 to 6 million dollar yachts.
Pasquale eventually went back into the commercial business with the Brady Company of San Diego, doing framing, drywall and lathe and plaster for large construction projects at many San Diego landmark projects, including National University, Fashion Valley Mall, Sycuan and Viejas and the Hyatt Hotels. He went into the door division, and over one 8 month period installed over 4000 doors, eventually to become door superintendent.
Today, Sardina Construction reflects the many different dimensions and talents of Pasquale Sardina – providing the highest quality finish carpentry, quality design and craftsmanship for residential and commercial construction and remodeling. Pasquale and Sardina Construction serve the needs of home and business owners alike, with personal attention and involvement in every job.
Pasquale Sardina says this about his philosophy of doing business and satisfying customers:
“Customers want to know who they can trust to be there every day on the job, making sure that what is promised is truly delivered. That’s why you’ll see me on the job, doing the heavy lifting – the Old World way.
